Solar Farm 2.0 is a 54-acre, 12.32 megawatt (MWdc) solar array on the South Farms of the  University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Located north of Curtis Road, between First Street and Dunlap Avenue near Savoy, Solar Farm 2.0 is producing approximately 20,000 megawatt-hours per year (MWh/year), bringing the total on-campus solar production to approximately 27,000 MWh/year.

The Undergraduate Certificate in Environmental Writing (CEW) is a fantastic new offering for Illinois students wanting to engage the latest research in sustainability science — and to build their skills in environmental communication.

The Certificate is a joint venture of iSEE, the School for Earth, Society, and Environment, and the English Department, and is at the cutting edge of interdisciplinary sustainability programs in the nation.

Graduate students and faculty members from Dance at Illinois and the School of Architecture collaborated to design and build our newest work center. Begun from the concept of sustainable rehabilitation, the Graduate Dance Center includes reclaimed basketball flooring from the Activities and Recreation Center and barn wood donated from alumni.

A University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign student run organization which designs and fabricates a highly fuel efficient car to compete annually in the Shell Eco-Marathon Americas Competition.

The Bevier Café is a learning laboratory where Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) students get hands on experience running a food service establishment. The goal of this project is to reduce the café’s waste stream by adding reusable to-go containers as an option for customers.

Biking on the University of Illinois campus and in Champaign-Urbana is an excellent option for much of the community. Illinois has been recognized as a bronze-level bicycle friendly university by the League of American Bicyclists. The City of Champaign has been recognized as a bronze-level bicycle friendly community and Urbana as a gold-level bicycle friendly community.

The Allerton Park Climate Action Plan (apCAP) is the first of a series of more detailed proposals to supplement the iCAP with goals and strategies specific to the needs and resources of on- and off-campus entities. By participating in the development of, and implementing the strategies outlined in, the apCAP, Allerton Park is continuing to exercise its dedication to environmental conservation, and serving as an example of ecological sustainability through institutional reform.

In 2015-16, University of Illinois President Timothy Killeen led an initiative to develop a System-wide strategic framework to chart the institution's path to the future and build on the U of I's rich legacy of service to students and to the public good. The development process was a team effort involving all of the U of I's stakeholders.

The Campus RainWorks Challenge is designed to encourage college and university students to design innovative green infrastructure to manage stormwater on campus. Design themes may center around water reuse, pollution management, and runoff reduction. Teams complete their project through the course of a Fall semester, guided by a faculty member.
