Description

Students for Environmental ConcernS (SECS) is UIUC's oldest and largest environmental group. We work with all things green on campus and around the community. Check us out at our weekly meetings every Wednesday @ 6:30 at the Channing Murray Foundation.

SECS Groups

Beyond Coal: UIUC Beyond Coal aims to bring our school beyond coal by calling for the university to divest all university endowment funds out of coal companies.

Community Education: The education project group's focus is to educate the students and faculty on campus along with the nearby community about environmental degradation and how they can live more sustainably.

Earth Week: Earth Week is a weeklong celebration accompanying Earth Day. The objective of this particular committee is to engage the Champaign-Urbana community in a variety of events that promote community and university efforts in environmental sustainability.

Political Action: This group works to improve legislation so our university can be able to implement necessary changes that will protect and sustain the environment.

Sustainable Business: Sustainable business looks at how businesses around campus can become more sustainable and collaborates with them on how to make improvements. This could include reducing waste, using renewable resources, etc.
